About Me

As a third-year crisis and strategic communication student from Michigan State University, Lauren has a passion for nontraditional media. In the wake of modern technology, information is more accessible than ever. With a creative ambition and a background in leadership and strategic planning, Lauren is excited to take her first steps into crisis management.

This January, Lauren achieved becoming president of the Communication Leadership and Strategy Society. Through her presidency she has expanded her professional network, met with students and faculty, planned events, and managed an executive board. One of her favorite events was a meeting with Christy McDonald, former WDIV Local 4 Detroit anchor. During the session, McDonald talked about mastering confidence and body language.

Recently, Lauren has served on an undergraduate research team studying public attitudes and aggression with Dr. Ron Tamborini, professor in the Department of Communication at Michigan State University. During this opportunity, Lauren put her interpersonal communication skills into practice as well as learning to solve problems during setbacks.

New York City Field Experience Trip

Through March of 2025, Lauren attended a field experience trip to New York City hosted by the Michigan State University Department of Advertising + Public Relations. During the weeklong excursion, she met with several agencies including Weiden+Kennedy, Serino Coyne, Autumn Communications, NBCUniversal, and more. In the course of this experience, she learned about the bustling agency style in a global metropolis, and expanded her network of public relations practitioners through Michigan State University alumni.

One of Lauren’s career ambitions is to be involved in community relations. As a lover of community engagement, she hopes to give back to her community in a professional environment. In her past, Lauren was a member of the Girl Scouts of Southern Eastern Michigan, Troop #70517. One of her main projects was creating a diaper drive through local childcare centers to donate to women shelters in the area. Lauren has a passion for getting involved and plans to continue volunteer work. Recently, Lauren helped create Easter baskets for kids, and volunteered at Robinson Memorial Church in food distribution.

Community Engagement

In her spare time, you can find Lauren watching movies with her roommates, or participating in theater activities with her club, They’re So Dramatic. Lauren loves to sing and has been a part of numerous choirs and theatrical productions throughout her life. In addition, Lauren loves reading a mix of genres, but namely Greek mythology and dystopian novels. One of her favorite reads is “There There” by Tommy Orange. Lastly, during breaks from school, you can find her on long walks with her dogs Milo and Luna.

Lauren has been on many professional and personal adventures during her time at Michigan State University and cannot wait to expand her journey. As she learns new skills, improves her knowledge, and creates an admirable network, she will continue her passion for media and ever-changing technology. She hopes to pursue a career in giving back in corporate America and give corporations insight on their relationship with media and their community.
